COPYRIGHT INFORMATION VI. VERSION HISTORY =========================== --------------- I. INTRODUCTION --------------- The Tire Size Calculator is a tool to show the differences of 2 tires. This is a helpful aid when you want to change the tire and/or rim size on your vehicle. This application was inspired by the folks and by the Tire Size Calculator at www.TacomaWorld.com. ---------------- II. INSTALLATION ---------------- Unzip the application to a folder of your choice. To run the application, launch the "TireCalcApplication.exe" file. ------------- III. FEATURES ------------- The Tire Size Calculator displays the following statistics about the tires: Current Tire Diameter Current Tire Width Current Tire Circumference Current Tire Side Wall Height Current Tire Revolutions per Mile New Tire Diameter New Tire Width New Tire Circumference New Tire Side Wall Height New Tire Revolutions per Mile Numerical Difference and Percentage Difference of all the above stats Speedometer Corrections: Displayed Speed vs Actual Speed Side By Side drawing of both tires Overlay drawing of both tires The Tire Size Calculator keeps a list of all the different calculations made per session. This list can be exported and then imported again for later use. The Tire Size Calculator can save the current calculation to a text file. This file can be opened and then printed. The Displayed Speed range on the Tire Size Calculator can be manually set. The Tire Size Calculator has a manual and automatic(can be turned off) version validator. If there is a new version, you will be prompted to download it. -------------- IV. HOW TO USE -------------- -- ENTERING TIRE SIZES -- Tire sizes can be entered by selecting the values in the drop down lists. If there is a size that you do not see in the list, you can also manually enter that size in the drop down window. Note: you will not be able to enter a mix of metric and standard sizes. For example, 33/75-16 and 265/12.5-16 are not valid sizes. -- MAKING A CALCULATION -- After you have entered 2 valid tire sizes, press the Calculate button. All the stats, drawings, and calculations will then be displayed. -- USING PREVIOUS TIRE SIZES -- For each unique tire size calculation that you make, an entry will be made in the Previous Tire Size drop down list. You can then select an entry in that list to automatically populate those tire sizes and make the calculation. Note: this list is only available during you current session. -- SAVING PREVIOUS TIRE SIZES -- If you wish to save the list of Previous Tire Sizes for later use, you can export that list to an xml file. To do so, select the "File->Export Previous Tire Sizes..." menu option. Then follow the windows dialogs to save the file. Note: a Previous Tire Size list has been exported and included in the "exports" folder as an example. -- LOADING PREVIOUS TIRE SIZES -- To load a previously exported tire size list, select the "File->Import Previous Tire Sizes..." menu option. Follow the windows dialogs to locate an exported Tire Size Calculation xml file. The tire sizes from that file will be shown in the Previous Tire Sizes drop down list. Note: a Previous Tire Size list has been exported and included in the "exports" folder as an example. -- SAVING A SINGLE TIRE SIZE CALCULATION -- After a valid set of tires has been entered, the complete statistics of that calculation can be saved to a text file. This contents of the file is formatted and can be printed. To save the calculation, select the "File->Save->Current Calculations To File..." menu option and follow the windows dialogs. Note: a single tire size calculation has been exported and included in the "savedCalc" folder as an example. -- SETTING THE DISPLAYED SPEED RANGE -- The Displayed Speed range shows 11 speeds in increments of 5 mph. Changing this range is done by selecting the Starting Displayed Speed. This can be done through the "Options->Set Starting Display Speed" menu option. -- CHANGING THE TIRE DRAWINGS -- By default, a Side by Side representation of the tires will be drawn. To change to an Overlay View, click the Overlay radio button. To change back to the Side by Side representation, press the Side by Side radio button. -- CHECKING FOR UPDATES -- By default, the Tire Size Calculator will check a version file on the Tire Size Caclulator website. If there is a new version, you will be prompted to download it. If you would like to turn this feature off, select the "Options->Auto Check for Updates->Off" menu option. To manually check for updates, select the "Options->Check for Updates" menu option. ------------------------ V.
